Chippendale

AWhen the English cabinet-maker Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779) embarked on building his own furniture designs, he would never have imagined that his name would become known for an entire style – Chippendale, a scaled-down British form following on the heels of European late Baroque and an alternative to Rococo.

Chippendale silverware from Koch & Bergfeld owes its unique character to a brilliant synthesis of Europe's advanced civilisation (Baroque) and Asiatic influences (simple lines). Its design echoes the styling of "Altfaden" silverware (thread running around the handle) and Barock (in terms of shape). This cutlery combines perfect elegance with elaborate yet delicate and graceful lines. Today's design was created in 1925 under the management of Gustav Elsaß.
